~Mr. E~

May God bless you with the same Peace, Hope and Love that your bring to the lives of others.  Thank you very much for your kind assistance!  May God bless you and give you all the energy you need!

~Mr. & Mrs. P~

Our pre-marital counseling equipped us to face the many challenges we would face not only as a cross-cultural marriage but as two distinct individuals becoming one. For example I was (am) more impulsive than my wife and she is more thoughtful and cautious. Also, as an Italian American, I am more demonstrative than my wife who is Chinese. PCC helped us begin and continue our lives on a Biblical basis.

~Former Client~

My mission Board requires its missionaries to speak with a psychologist upon returning to the United States. Makes sense; working with Muslims is demanding. My schedule often kept me busy from around 8:00 AM to 9:00 or 10:00 PM.  Needless to say, after four years of ministry, my body was pretty beat up. I was mentally fatigued, and eager for furlough. Who better to evaluate my mental health than friends, so, I decided to be seen by the counselors at PCC. Two dear friends helped me understand that though my physical health was good, the fatigue I was experiencing was due to mental and emotional demands of my ministry. As a result of their counsel, I was able to better understand what was happening to me, and what I could do to get back to “being myself”.

~Mrs. W~

PCC should really stand for Pastoral Care Counselors because the center’s workers embody and demonstrate how God’s love, grace and truth could penetrate through the struggles, distractions, darkness, difficulties, and stumbling blocks commonplace in most individuals’ lives and during the course of one’s Christian walk. My counselors challenged me to see life in God’s eyes instead of the world’s view. The client’s right to self-determination and privacy were always respected, valued and protected. We all struggle because life is a struggle, but we don't have to endure this alone and perhaps because of them, we can become better instruments of God’s peace for others who experience similar difficulties. Never faltering away from God’s Word, PCC was a safe haven in the midst of the struggles and distractions in my life.

~Mrs. R~

While I was serving in a remote part of Africa years ago, my mother died in the U.S.  Communication was such that I didn't learn about her death for a week and would not have been able to return for her funeral even if I had. But, it left me without the chance to do the normal grieving one does for the loss of one’s mother. About twenty years later I went through a period of unexplained but unshakeable sadness and a wise friend suggested I find a counselor to talk with. My PCC counselor was willing to listen to me with wisdom and compassion. She also very helpfully suggested that I could resolve some of the issues of grief that persisted by writing my mother a letter. I did that, shedding many previously unshed tears, and was freed from the persistent sadness to continue my life and ministry. I will always be indebted and grateful to my counselor and to the Pastoral Counseling Center in Flushing.

~Mr. D~

Bless the name of the LORD.

When asked to write a paragraph or two about my experience at the Pastoral Counseling Center of Flushing, I  had to stop and reflect on how much I had changed over the last year being in pastoral counseling. Coming to the Lord a little over a year ago, the realization came to me that a strict course of secular therapy did not answer questions and concerns in my life. The combination of biblical counseling and traditional psychology seemed to be the right answer for me. My counselor at PCCF provided those needs.

In my studying of scripture, I came across Paul’s letter to the Church at Corinth , (1 Cor. 12: 12-31) where he writes that the Body has many parts. In reading this scripture, I came away with the understanding that GOD has this ultimate plan for all of us, that everyone has a purpose in the body of Messiah (Christ). As I read this scripture, I began to see my counselor in a new light. I saw the possibility of God’s anointing for him in pastoral counseling. He is truly gifted!

Coming to the Pastoral Counseling Center of Flushing has provided me with support and a place to grow in my walk with the LORD. To finally understand that GOD’s love for me as a believer is unconditional, and that Yeshua (Jesus) died for my sins, has taken a heavy burden off my heart. “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul…(Psalm 23)

PS: Did I mention that I am a Jewish believer?

~Esther Magliore~

I praise God for PCC Ministry.  Several years ago I was looking for Christian counseling and someone had told me about PCC.  I will never forget my experience there. I really needed help and had gone to secular psychologists with no satisfaction.  As a practicing Christian I knew in my heart that a true Christian would understand my reaction to my situation and guide me in a Godly way.  I was not disappointed at all.  I was welcomed with warmth and consideration.

Besides the warmth, the competence and adequate help that I got from the counseling at PCC, what I appreciated very much is that the counseling helps you to get onto your feet and equip you how to keep going without being dependent on the counseling.  I got the impression that at PCC you don't want the people to be dependent or make counseling a crutch.  I learned how to find answers in the Bible and even learned how to study the Word of God.

Now I am so very blessed to know that you still exist.  A friend of mine is in need of counseling (also a practicing Christian).  I now live in Florida.  I told her that I would check the Internet for her.  I told her about PCC and told her that it was in Flushing but it was so long ago I don't have the address and phone number. I even forgot the name of it.  When I searched the Internet and found PCC, I saw an address in Flushing, I said to myself, "I hope it's that place I went so long ago because it is so good I would love for my friend to get help there." I left my phone # and I wasn't sure I would get a call back because it's long distance.  I was so blessed to get a call back. I found out that it was indeed the place that I received counseling 15 years ago.  I appreciated the call back from the same lady who years ago welcomed me at the door when I arrived for the first time at PCC.  I loved talking to her and she gave me the info I needed for my friend, Praise the Lord!

You are doing a lot of good.  Please continue the good work.  Christians are in need of that type of counseling and too many of us cannot afford the fees and there's not enough of your type of counseling out there.  God bless you for your dedication, compassion and your sliding scale.  "...whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."  You are indeed giving glory to God!!!

P.S.  Forgive me for being so talkative.  I was overwhelmed to find out that you are still in existence.  THANK GOD!!!   I will certainly keep your ministry in my prayers.
